Chandler Erickson

It’s often been said that I’ve been playing in the dirt since I could walk, and honestly, that’s a pretty accurate statement. My fascination with tractors, machinery and construction equipment began at a young age, stemming from the time I spent on my uncle’s farm and also at a friend’s place that was full of excavation equipment. Helping out on the farm and moving dirt with a mini excavator were my favorite pastimes growing up. Little did I know at the time, those moments were laying the foundation that would shape my future.

As an adult, my career path has taken many twists and turns. My years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in my hometown sparked my desire to become a career firefighter. I spent a season wildland firefighting out West, which was a real eye-opener. I continue to work as an EMT with a local ambulance service whenever I can. Another twist in my journey took me back out West where I worked on a guest ranch for a season. Not ready to leave Montana quite yet, I joined a large excavating company until winter and then spent the winter plowing snow in the mountains.

In 2020, I started my excavation business in Wisconsin as a side gig while working full-time for a city street department. After a year of juggling both jobs, I knew it was time to take the leap into full-time self-employment. It wasn’t the easiest decision, but it was the right one.

People often ask me why I chose this path instead of working for a company with a steady paycheck, benefits and paid time off. For me, the answer is simple: I find real satisfaction in solving tough problems and guiding customers through their options. Seeing a finished project like a new driveway, shed pad or cleared site for someone's future home, and knowing I helped make it happen, is incredibly rewarding.

I attribute my drive, determination, honesty and strong work ethic to the influence of many incredible people who’ve inspired me throughout my life. I am grateful for the twists and turns that have led me where I am today.
